Joel 1:1-3:21, Revelation 1:1-20, Psalm 128:1-6, Proverbs 29:18
“The Lord leads them with a shout. This is His mighty army, and they follow His orders. The day of the judgment of the Lord is an awesome, terrible thing. Who can endure it? That is why the Lord says, ‘Turn to me now, while there is time. Give me all your hearts. Come with fasting, weeping, mourning. Let your remorse tear at your hearts and not your garments.’ Return to the Lord your God, for He is gracious and merciful. He is not easily angered; He is full of kindness and anxious not to punish you.” Joel 2:11-13
There will one day be a day of reckoning when we will all have to give an account for the things we have done in this life. That is why it is crucial to receive the work of Christ. If we do not accept that He paid the price for our short comings then we will have to pay for our sins ourselves. If we were compared to others, we might stand a chance. But that is not how God judges because there is no definitive standard. He is righteous and just so every one will be measured by law or grace. If we choose law we will not, within ourselves, pass muster. If we choose grace, Jesus’ sacrifice will cover us. As the scripture says, God has no desire to punish anyone. Choose life, turn to Him while there is time because tomorrow is not promised.
PRAYER: Jesus change my heart and desires. I receive what You have done for me, and I am grateful. My God, I see Your heart and I thank You for all You have done throughout time to reach us hard-hearted humans. Thank You for Your continued mercy and grace. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
