Miracle Moment

April 11, 2024
Isaiah 54:1-57:14, Ephesians 6:1-24, Psalm 70:1-5, Proverbs 24:8

“You have taken pleasant incense and perfume to Molech as your gift. You have traveled far, even to hell itself, to find new gods to love. You grew weary in your search, but you never gave up. You strengthened yourself and went on. Why were you more afraid of them than of Me? How is it that you gave not even a second thought to Me? Is it because I’ve been too gentle that you have no fear of Me? And then there is your “righteousness” and “good works” – none of which will save you. Let’s see if the whole collection of your idols can help you when you cry to them to save you! They are so weak that the wind can carry them off! A breath can puff them away. But he who trust in Me shall possess the land and inherit My holy mountain. I will say, Rebuild the road! Clear away the rocks and stones. Prepare a glorious highway for my people’s return from captivity.” Isaiah 57:9-14

This reminds me of the parable of the prodigal son. I can just see him running off into the world to seek out “new and better” things, trying a different, unrestrained lifestyle. How many today have sought out other religions, sexual experiences, wild partying, etc. trying to push away what is considered a restrictive Christian God. Yet even with all this rejection, the Creator of the universe still seeks out His wayward creation. Like the Father in the parable, He has built a clear and direct highway leading back home. He is at the end of the road and when we are spent and tired and nothing has really panned out like we thought, He welcomes us with His peace and joy. God truly does love us…

PRAYER: Forgive me Father for pushing You aside for things here that only bring temporary fulfillment and comfort. I have sought so many things that have led me to dead ends. Please draw me to Yourself and change my desires so that I can settle in with You. Help me to invest as much time in our relationship as I have into these other pursuits. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
