Miracle Moment

January 18, 2024
I Chronicles 4:5-5:17, Acts 25:1-27, Psalm 5:1-12, Proverbs 18:19

“It is harder to win back the friendship of an offended brother than to capture a fortified city. His anger shuts you out like iron bars.” Proverbs 18:19

I can definitely attest to that! Many years ago, I got on to a friend of mine for handling a situation wrong. I came at it wrong and totally offended my friend. I wasn’t doing it in love to help this person grow, I rudely spoke out of my own offense. Whatever is down in your well is what will come up in your bucket. If you’re feeling angry or offended, hold your peace until you can get a grip on your emotions. It took many years for my friend to talk to me and still the relationship was never the same, and it wasn’t because I didn’t try to make it right. Sometimes people throw up high walls if their trust has been broken and there’s no amount of apologizing that will make it right. In this instance, do what you can do then leave it alone. At some point, it becomes their problem.

PRAYER: Lord, help me to use wisdom before I open my mouth. Hide me while I’m upset so that I don’t do anything that will harm another. If there is anyone who is angry with me, I ask You to soothe their heart. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
