“It was for this freedom that Christ set us free [completely liberating us]; therefore, keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery [which you once removed].” Galatians 5:1
The apostle Paul is trying to keep people from going back under Jewish laws and circumcision. He’s telling them to remain free in the grace of God through faith in the finished work of the cross of Christ. While he may be talking about laws, I applied it a little differently to myself. When I got saved, I felt like the Lord used this scripture to encourage me from falling back into my old sinful patterns. He broke the power of sin off of my life so that I would know true freedom. Jesus wanted me (and you) to continue in this liberty so I wouldn’t be engulfed by the sins that so easily tried to lure me back. Jesus wants you to walk free also, don’t allow temptation to suck you away from Him. Stand firm, you got this!
PRAYER: Lord, I ask You to keep my eyes open. I don’t want to fall away either by sin or by placing myself under rules and regulations that take my eyes off of Your sufficiency. I love You and my desire is stay free and full of Your presence and purpose. It’s in Jesus’ name I pray, amen. |
