“Well, one thing, at least, is good: It is for a man to eat well, accept his position in life, and enjoy his work whatever his job may be, for however long the Lord may let him live. And, of course, it is very good if a man has received wealth from the Lord and the good health to enjoy it. To enjoy your work and to accept your lot in life – that is indeed a gift from God. The person who does that will not need to look back with sorrow on his past, for God gives him joy.” Ecclesiastes 5:18-20
Throughout Ecclesiastes the wisest, richest man who ever lived declared that all is foolishness and chasing the wind. He gives us some solid advice in this chapter when he encourages us to enjoy our lot in life. Sometimes we get caught up in keeping up with the Jones’ or we live with regrets over things we can’t change. There are so many negatives that can bombard us, why not just slow down and enjoy what we do and where we’re at. Life is a fleeting gift. I promise, if you are ever confronted with a death situation, it will cause you to rethink what is important. If you’re smart, a new appreciation will grow.
PRAYER: Lord, I want to thank You for all my people and all my blessings. I know You caused me to born at this time for my particular purpose. I pray for the gift of contentment so that I may enjoy every season of life. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen. |
