| Job 40:1-42:17, II Corinthians 5:11-21, Psalm 45:1-17, Proverbs 22:14
“Can you catch a crocodile with a hook and line? Or put a noose around his tongue…No one dares to stir him up, let alone try to conquer him. And if no one can stand before him, who can stand before me! I owe no one anything. Everything under the heavens is mine.” Job 41:1, 10-11
God is giving us a word picture to bring on home just how powerful He is. Throughout the book, Job has said, “If I could just make my case to God to His face. If I could let Him see how unfair this is.” Now, here he is in conversation with God and he feels like an idiot. What do you say to the creator of the universe? Your maker. God’s response is that everything is His and we are actors on His stage. This is His world. We are told in Jeremiah 18, that He is the potter and we are the clay. And again, in Psalm 24, the earth is the Lord’s and everything in it. I’m thinking our proper response should be, “Yes Sir, thank You Lord.”
Many bitter or disillusioned people have said, “When I see God, I’ll give Him a piece of my mind.” And, “Who wants to serve a God like that?” These folks have no idea what they are saying. We will all stand before God one day and give an account for our lives. If you have a problem with Him, I would recommend you work on it now. In that day, we will be like Job as he said, “I talked about things I had no knowledge of.”
PRAYER: Lord, I pray for myself and others who may have felt so bold as to question You or Your decisions. Please forgive our disrespect Lord, we don’t see the whole picture. I thank You that despite Job’s pain and questions, You put things in perspective and then turned around and blessed Him. That is Your heart and I give You glory and honor. Thank You for the life and opportunities You have given me. In Jesus’ name, amen. |
