“Teach a child to choose the right path, and when he is older, he will remain upon it.” Proverbs 22:6
We all learn by repetition. When a child starts public school, everything they are taught from year-to-year builds on the last and is restated so as to get it into their minds. At home, we have the opportunity to guide our children into a positive path that will bless their lives. We can teach them about God, that He is good and kind, what He has done for us and the respect they should have toward Him. We can teach personal responsibility, compassion and strength. All of these attributes coupled with God’s principles will help them through the years as they look for direction on any circumstance. They can pull from the reservoir of their souls for the wisdom that we taught them. Don’t be discouraged if you don’t feel they are picking it up. Keep reiterating, pray for organic teaching moments.
PRAYER: Lord, help me to faithful and consistent in teaching the children in my life the godly, good principles You have instilled in me. I pray for my children, grandchildren and all children with whom I have to do, to be mentally stable, strong mentally and physically, decent, hard-working people who care about others. Lead and guide them on their paths Lord. Save them and give them a desire to know and serve You. Help me to lead them right. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. |
