| Job 16:1-19:29, I Corinthians 16:1-24, Psalm 40:1-10, Proverbs 22:1
“But as for me, I know that my Redeemer lives, and that He will stand upon the earth at last. And I know that after this body has decayed, this body shall see God! Then He will be on my side! Yes, I shall see Him, not as a stranger, but as a friend! What a glorious hope!” Job 19:25-27
This is actually a reference to Jesus and the hope of resurrection but we’re dealing with Job right now and Job is in a tough situation. He is under severe stress from so much loss and feels as though God is against him, even though he feels he has done nothing wrong. On the other hand, he hopes in God. He hopes that on the other side of God’s anger he will enjoy redemption and will be closer to God than ever before.
My heart goes out to Job. It is terrible to feel that God has abandoned you and that He is angry with you, yet you struggle to stay connected by faith. We are reading the story, so we know that God loves Job and is very confident in his ability to stand through the hardship. Job is clinging to that thought that just maybe he and God will be on good terms again. The pain of his body and life causes him to waffle between the two thoughts.
If you find yourself in a Job situation, remember God loves you and He is for you. His thoughts are always toward you and this world is short and temporary. For whatever reason you are walking through a hardship, just know that you can make. We’re going home one day!
PRAYER: Lord, we love and bless You and thank You for Your grace and mercy. Lord, I don’t want to go through a Job season, but should that time ever come, remind me that You love me, and You are with me. If You will do that, I can make it through anything. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen. |
