“This decree gave the Jews everywhere permission to unite in the defense of their lives and their families, to destroy all the forces opposed to them, and to take their property.” Esther 8:11
Once the King Ahasuerus made the decree for Haman by declaring the Jewish people could be exterminated, it could not be revoked, however, it could be superseded by a new decree. In this case, the king gave the Jewish people the ability to defend themselves.
God said the payment of sin is death. The soul that sins will die. That is a decree. He is a just God and that truth cannot be revoked but it can be superseded. And that my friends is what Jesus has done for us. The requirement had to be paid, and He stepped up to take care of the bill. We owe Him a huge debt for the freedom He bought for us. Think about it. When this body dies, we will stand before God and give an account for ourselves. Those who know Christ will be cleansed and have no spot or blemish, completely paid for. Those who refuse Christ’s offer of salvation will have to pay their own debt. There is nothing in us that can cover the price. Jesus is the loophole in the law! I urge you to receive Christ as Lord and Savior while there is time. Allow Him to cover the amount you owe. It is His pleasure to offer this gift to us. Forget all you have ever heard before. Let go of all the religiosity that has pervaded this world. Just look at God as a being who is for you, who has already made a way for you and who loves you so much that He would override His own policy with His own sacrifice just so that you could be free. PRAYER: Lord, I receive You as my sacrifice to cover my sin. I pray to be born-again, for my spirit to awaken and connect with You. I trust that I will be able to live for You because You will give me the ability. Your Word says that You will give me the desires of my heart. Thank You, thank You for changing my desires and giving me a heart that wants to know and live for You. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen. |
