“So be careful. If you are thinking, ‘Oh, I would never behave like that’ – let this be a warning to you. For you too may fall into sin. But remember this – the wrong desires that come into your life aren’t anything new and different. Many others have faced exactly the same problems before you. And no temptation is irresistible. You can trust God to keep the temptation from becoming so strong that you can’t stand up against it, for He has promised this and will do what He says. He will show you how to escape temptation’s power so that you can bear up patiently against it.” I Corinthians 10:12-13
When I first received Christ, I felt so clean and new and thought there was no way possible that I would ever do anything that would remotely offend the Lord. Flip the page and here I was succumbing to temptation and falling headlong into sin. Wow. I thought about how I had judged others for their short comings. I would shake my head and think, “How could they do that?” And here I was. I obviously got back up, and pressed on, but on the journey, I’ve learned to deal with my own log instead of my friend’s speck. God has shown Himself faithful to protect me from myself and to lead me into paths of righteousness. I am humbled and grateful for His grace, mercy and open doors of escape from sin. When the temptation seems to great, just remember to look for the door and when you find it, run…
PRAYER: Lord, always show me the door of escape from sin. I do not want to fall back into a trap of the enemy and I don’t want to shame You or myself. Teach me to strengthen myself through applying Your Word and being accountable. Love You Jesus. It’s in Your name I pray, amen. |
