Daniel 8:1-27, I John 2:1-17, Psalm 120:1-7, Proverbs 28:25-26
“How can we be sure that we belong to Him? By looking within ourselves; are we really trying to do what He wants? Some may say, ‘I am a Christian; I am on my way to heaven; I belong to Christ.’ But if he doesn’t do what Christ tells him to, he is a liar. But those who do what Christ tells them to will learn to love God more and more. That is the way to know whether or not you are a Christian. Anyone who says he is a Christian should live as Christ did.” I John 2:3-6
We all have our ups and downs, so with that in mind, you ever wonder if you are truly born again. This is a great litmus test to help us know where we stand. Of course, we know that we are not saved by works, however, our lifestyle and actions show the change that spiritually happened within us. What an awesome gauge for our spirituality. Just ask yourself, “Am I doing what Jesus has asked me to do as revealed within His Word?” If you have more than an occasional no, might want to have a little talk with Jesus…
PRAYER: Lord, always reveal Your truth to me and aid me in living for You. I never want to walk outside of Your will. Keep me from condemning myself while I am growing, yet convict me when I stray or am consistently complacent. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
