Hosea 10:1-14:9, Jude 1:1-25, Psalm 127:1-5, Proverbs 29:15-17
“I say this because some godless teachers have wormed their way in among you, saying that after we become Christians we can do just as we like without fear of God’s punishment. The fate of such people was written long ago, for they have turned against our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ…Those cities were destroyed by fire and continue to be a warning to us that there is a hell in which sinners are punished.” Jude 1:4,7b
Okay, so, they can’t all be shouting messages. Sometimes we just need a small dose of reality. In this particular instance, the reality is that hell is still a real thing. We can’t say we are born-again and then live any old kind of way. It just doesn’t mesh. Obviously, our lives will be a process of growth, failure, mistakes and positives, so that’s not what I’m talking about. God gives us specifics, and they aren’t behavior modifications, they are true revelations and heart changes. The key is, we don’t have this within ourselves, we must develop our relationship with God in order to have the ability to do the things He is looking for. Amazingly, the closer we get to the Lord the easier it is to understand Him and to live for Him. Crazy, right. Who knew getting to know someone would bring favor, love, and acceptance?! My point being is that if we are pushing away from God and if we are okay with doing things He considers missing the mark, then we need to have a come to Jesus moment.
PRAYER: Lord, I don’t want to take You for granted and I certainly do not want to be deceived into thinking that I am alright with You and can do things that are offensive to You without repercussion. I ask You to forgive me for my shortcomings and guide me throughout this life. I am for You, I want You to be for me. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
