Genesis 8-10; Matthew 4:12-25; Psalm 4:1-8; Proverbs 1:20-23
“Wisdom cries without, she utters her voice in the streets. She cries in the chief place of concourse, in the openings of the gate in the city she utters her words, saying, ‘How long you simple ones will you love simplicity? And the scorners delight in their scorning and fools hate knowledge? Turn you at my reproof behold I will pour out My Spirit unto you, I will make known My words unto you.'” (Proverbs 1:20-23)
Today we want to think about wisdom and its power and value. Wisdom is really the ability to apply knowledge. Wisdom is an action word. The Bible teaches us that wisdom speaks in open places, in the streets, in mobs (commotion, tumult, uproar), in gates and in cities.
Wisdom speaks to us in public places and warns the young to avoid the ways of seduction and sin. Wisdom promises riches, honor and success in every field of endeavor to those who love her.
Wisdom speaks to eternity with God and advises men to obey. Wisdom cries out, stands, calls, speaks, reproves, abhors sin, admonishes, searches, hates arrogance, counsels, advises, loves, leads, blesses, rejoices, delights, builds, and plans.
PRAYER:
God, I ask You to send the spirit of wisdom into my heart so that I will be all You have created me to be. I pray all 18 virtues of wisdom will operate in my life. Lord manifest Your life through my life in all Your wisdom. I pray in the name of Jesus Christ my Lord. Amen.
