Joshua 11:1-12:24; Luke 17:11-37; Psalm 84:1-12; Proverbs 13:5-6
“While traveling to Jerusalem, He passed between Samaria and Galilee. As He entered a village, 10 men with serious skin diseases met Him. They stood at a distance and raised their voices, saying, ‘Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!’ When He saw them, He told them, ‘Go and show yourselves to the priests.’ And while they were going, they were healed. But one of them, seeing that he was healed, returned and, with a loud voice, gave glory to God. He fell face-down at His feet, thanking Him. And he was a Samaritan. Then Jesus said, ‘Were not 10 cleansed? Where are the nine? Didn’t any return to give glory to God except this foreigner?'” (Luke 17:11-18)
It’s easy to take God’s blessings for granted. In the story above it was the foreigner (the unbeliever) that came back to thank Jesus for healing him. “You mean God will heal an unbeliever!” It happens all the time. All healing is ultimately from God. Believe it or not, God really does love people, good people, bad people, all people. Ain’t that something. Sometimes we get so familiar with God that we overlook all of our blessings. We sort of just expect it to be.
Do me a favor. Should you wake up tomorrow… with the ability to see, smell, taste or hear, why don’t you take five minutes to do a little jig and give God some praise. Tell Him how much you appreciate having another day to live and give Him glory for whatever you have to be thankful for. You know, you could actually start right now, just sayin!
PRAYER:
Lord, I love You and I want You to know You don’t have to perform a miracle to gain my admiration. I’m blown away by a sunset, the coo of a baby, shoot, I’m just grateful to wake up. I pray to never take You for granted and if I ever do, please forgive me and bear with me. Again, I love You and give You all of the praise that is due Your name. Amen. |
