“When I am afraid, I will trust in you. In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I will not fear. What can man do to me? They twist my words all day long; all their thoughts are against me for evil.” (Psalm 56:1-5)
“You Yourself have recorded my wanderings. Put my tears in Your bottle. Are they not in Your records? Then my enemies will retreat on the day when I call. This I know: God is for me. In God, whose word I praise, in the Lord, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I will not fear. What can man do to me? I am obligated by my vows to You, God; I will make my thank offerings to You. For You delivered me from death, even my feet from stumbling, to walk before God in the light of life.” (Psalm 56:8-13)
In the old world some people would save their tears in a bottle as a remembrance of a difficult time. Along with our memories, the psalmist imagined that every step we take and every tear we cry is written down and collected by the Lord.
Truly the Lord does know us better than we know ourselves. We are His. We must take authority over fear because we know our God loves us and is there for us. His Word reveals truth to us, it shows us His heart. No matter how things may appear, God’s Word stands true and we can depend on it. His Word keeps and strengthens us.
PRAYER:
Father, thank You for knowing me. I am touched that You are so intimate with my details. I owe You everything. I appreciate Your Word, it teaches me who You are. I hide it in my heart, it keeps me whole. Always keep me in remembrance of Your love. In the name of Jesus I pray, amen. |
