Leviticus 1:1-3:17; Mark 1:29-2:12; Psalm 35:17-28; Proverbs 9:13-18
“If his gift is a burnt offering from the herd, he is to bring an unblemished male. He must bring it to the entrance to the tent of meeting so that he may be accepted by the Lord.” (Leviticus 1:3)
“But if his gift for a burnt offering is from the flock, from sheep or goats, he is to present an unblemished male. He will slaughter it on the north side of the altar before the Lord.” (1:10-11)
“If his gift to the Lord is a burnt offering of birds, he is to present his offering from the turtledoves or young pigeons.” (1:14)
“When anyone presents a grain offering as a gift to the Lord, his gift must consist of fine flour.” (2:1)
“If his offering is a fellowship sacrifice…” (3:1)
And I could go on. I started reading all of the offering requirements and my head was swimming. I am so grateful for what Jesus did for us. His sacrifice opened up a new level of relationship with God and offers us forgiveness once and for all, preventing us from having to cover our own sins with these animal and grain sacrifices. (Hebrews 10:10) After reading this I have such an appreciation for God’s all-encompassing plan.
PRAYER:
Lord, You were so gracious for sending Jesus to free us not only from our sins but from that burdensome system of sacrifice. I am eternally thankful for all You’ve done. In Your precious name I pray. Amen. |
