II Samuel 12:1-31, John 16:1-33, Psalm 119:65-80, Proverbs 16:4-5
“His aides were amazed. ‘We don’t understand you,’ they told him. ‘While the baby was still living, you wept and refused to eat; but now that the baby is dead, you have stopped your mourning and are eating again.’ David replied, ‘I fasted and wept while the child was alive, for I said, ‘Perhaps the Lord will be gracious to me and let the child live. But why should I fast when he is dead? Can I bring him back again? I shall go to him, but he shall not return to me.'” II Samuel 12:21-23
Death is a struggle for so many of us. It feels so permanent, but it is really just a transition. Death is a portal to the next dimension where God lives. Do not be afraid. In Hebrews 2:15, we see Jesus broke the power of fear that death brings. Understand that when we pass from this life we are merely transitioning to the next. You will see your loved one again, you will continue to live on. Make the good choice here to receive the sacrifice of Christ and apply His payment to your sin debt. By this, you are assured entrance to the Kingdom.
PRAYER: Jesus, I receive You as my Lord and Savior. I thank You for sacrificing Yourself in order to pay for our sins. I love You and am eternally grateful. Help me to be a light and witness to others. Affirm in my spirit that death has no hold on me and there is no reason to fear or to walk in perpetual grief. I release my loved one into Your presence and pray Your great mercy in Jesus’ name. Amen.
