I Kings 5:1-6:38, Acts 7:1-29, Psalm 127:1-5, Proverbs 16:28-30
“Unless the Lord builds a house, the builders’ work is useless. Unless the Lord protects a city, sentries do no good. It is senseless for you to work so hard from early morning until late at night, fearing you will starve to death; for God wants his loved ones to get their proper rest.” Psalm 127:1-2
Basically, the psalmist is telling us unless our foundation is built on Christ, we’re spinning our wheels. We can slave away, always wondering when our house of cards is going to come tumbling down or we can choose to trust the Lord to take care of us and to prosper the works of our hands. He isn’t telling us not to work hard, we have to be responsible people, but we can’t run our health into the ground working all the time without rest. God will bless and protect all that we do and all that we have if we will just acknowledge our trust in Him.
PRAYER: Lord, I pray You will forgive me for doubting You or for taking things into my own hands. You have always proven faithful and I love You. I pray Your continued mercy and grace over my life, in Jesus’ precious name, amen.
