I Kings 8:1-66, Acts 7:51-8:13, Psalm 129:1-8, Proverbs 17:1
“Paul was like a wild man, going everywhere to devastate the believers, even entering private homes and dragging out men and women alike and jailing them. But the believers who had fled Jerusalem went everywhere preaching the Good News about Jesus! Philip, for instance, went to the city of Samaria and told the people there about Christ. Crowds listened intently to what he had to say because of the miracles he did.” Acts 8:3-6
Our friend Stephen has been stoned to death and persecution is raging among the believers as Paul goes town to town. Instead of squelching the Gospel of Jesus, this only inflamed it and caused the Word to spread even further. This oppression produced solid, sold out disciples. You either believed and obeyed or you didn’t, no one was willing to give their life for something they weren’t convinced was real. Hard times will come in our lives as well and it’s during these times that we need to affirm in our hearts that Jesus is real, He is alive and He is with us. If we can get these truths down, we can make it through anything. If you are struggling, remember that we are only here for a short season, one day we will pass from here and join Jesus there and what an amazing time that will be. He promises to wipe every tear from our eyes. May the peace of that statement keep you. Blessings.
PRAYER: Lord, I pray to know You more and more in a real, substantial way. I need You and I need Your guidance. Praying You will give me a desire to do what is right, praying You will walk through the hard times with me and give me wisdom, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
