I Kings 9:1-10:29, Acts 8:14-40, Psalm 130:1-8, Proverbs 17:2-3
“Silver and gold are purified by fire, but God purifies hearts.” Proverbs 17:3
If you have ever seen metal purified then you know the heat of the fire has to be so hot that the impurities separate and float to the top and are ladled out. Like metal, the corruption of our heart must be cleaned. Exponential growth happens in the heat, in the valley. Of course, we all like to be on the hill with the sun shining on our faces, living the easy life. Many times, we can stay true to God in this place but we have a tendency to get complacent. The enemy lulls us with comfort to where we forget there is a dying world who need to meet our Jesus. When the heat of life comes, understand that you aren’t necessarily a bad person, you just need a little fire to get you where you need to be. Here’s a nugget for you – the metal doesn’t have to stay in the fire forever; the metal is done when the smith can see his reflection.
PRAYER: Lord, hold me through the fire. Help me to always see Your hand and to have faith that nothing can touch me that You have not permitted. You have entrusted this life to me, help me to be a faithful steward. I pray You will see Your reflection, in Jesus’ name, amen.
