I Kings 18:1-46, Acts 11:1-30, Psalm 135:1-21, Proverbs 17:12-13
“When the church at Jerusalem heard what had happened, they sent Barnabas to Antioch to help the new converts. When he arrived and saw the wonderful things God was doing, he was filled with excitement and joy, and encouraged the believers to stay close to the Lord, whatever the cost. Barnabas was a kindly person, full of the Holy Spirit and strong in faith. As a result, large numbers of people were added to the Lord.” Acts 11:22-24
Believers were spreading out everywhere sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ. As a result of their sincere and powerful testimonies many, many people were getting converted. For an older believer, the salvation of a new person is like a baby being born; the sight of new life brings so much enthusiasm. Those who are mature in the Lord have an obligation, like Barnabas, to raise up the new believers and to model a godly lifestyle.
PRAYER: Lord, I ask You to give me souls. Teach me how to organically lead someone to faith in Christ and how to disciple them so they will grow spiritually. I don’t want to consider this a chore but rather an opportunity or even a privilege to be there for them as they walk out their new faith. Always give me a word in due season for them straight from Your heart. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
