II Kings 3:1-4:17, Acts 14:8-28, Psalm 140:1-13, Proverbs 17:22
“A cheerful heart does good like medicine, but a broken spirit makes one sick.” Proverbs 17:22
Even modern psychology agrees with this statement. Amazing how so many things in the Bible are believed on in this world even if God isn’t given the credit. Truly we can find all of the answers to life’s questions if we will just seek the Lord. Think about this proverb. Our mental state dictates how we face issues and circumstances in this world. It either heals or hurts. The Bible says it another way in Proverbs 4:23, “Guard your heart for out of it flows the issues of life.” And again, “Do not be conformed to this world but rather be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” Romans 12:2
One thing we can do daily to help our mood and general well-being are positive affirmations. That is simply taking the Word of God, or His promises and speaking them over ourselves. “I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me.” “I am the apple of God’s eye.” “His mercy and grace follow me everywhere I go.” “I am healed by the stripes on Jesus’ back.” ENDLESS support from God’s Word. The more we confess it, the more it drops into our spirit and becomes a revelation, a reality to us. Slowly, as our minds transform, the rest of our life follows.
PRAYER: Lord, help me to realize how serious my thoughts are. Guide me in rooting out negativity and replacing it with positivity from Your Word. Teach me about positive affirmations and encourage me to actually speak them over myself. I want to see my heart shift for the good and my faith increase, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
