Miracle Moment

January 5, 2026

II Kings 6:1-7:20, Acts 15:36-16:15, Psalm 142:1-7, Proverbs 17:24-25

“Now there were four lepers sitting outside the city gates. “Why sit here until we die?” they asked each other. We will starve if we stay here and we will starve if we go back into the city; so we might as well go out and surrender to the Syrian army. If they let us live, so much the better; but if they kill us, we would have died anyway.”

People were dying because of a long siege and these lepers decided to take a chance on different scenery. It definitely worked out since the Syrian army had abandoned camp and these lepers went from starving paupers to Richie Riches in a matter of a few minutes. It never would have happened though had they stayed stuck and fearful of stepping out. While their lives at the gate weren’t easy, it was what they knew. Many don’t push against the unknown.

Difficult situations can be an impetus toward change. Comfort or familiarity can be an enemy of progress. Our main goal in life is to know our God and to share what we know with others. Many times our blessings cause us to get lax in many areas of our life. We can begin to take things for granted. We aren’t hungry anymore, our passions wane. When hardships come, they are an opportunity to get out of our rut. They force us to make decisions and to follow through, whereas ease will keep us ineffective. Embrace whatever comes your way and allow it to propel you to the next dimension of life.

PRAYER: Lord, help me to take on the attitude during hard times that whether I live or die, I’m moving forward. I trust You. I choose to have faith that somehow, someway You will show me what to do and provide for my every need, even in unexpected ways. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
