“A man’s gift makes room for him and brings him before great men.” Proverbs 18:16
The Bible says that God has given gifts unto men according to I Peter 4:10 and we are to be good stewards over our gift. One definition of steward is to watch over and take care of something that belongs to another. God has given us gifts, or talents, that are actually His with the expectation we will use them properly and not squander them. We shouldn’t be boastful about things we are able to do; understand apart from God we could do nothing. These wonderful abilities God has given to us are to help us maneuver this world and to further His agenda in the process. What is God’s agenda? To open people’s eyes and to turn them from darkness to light, so that they will see and be saved. Our gifts will open doors for us and enable us to reach people for God’s glory. Our gifts will, practically speaking, bring us into great positions in order to provide for ourselves and God’s kingdom.
PRAYER: Lord, I acknowledge the gifts I have are from You and I am incredibly grateful that You have entrusted them to me. Help me to utilize my talents fully while I am here. I do not want to give an account one day for wasting what You gave me. I do not want You to take my talent and give it to another who is using his better than me. In Jesus’ name, amen.
