“Those who think it is all right to eat such meat must not look down on those who won’t. And if you are one of those who won’t, don’t find fault with those who do. For God has accepted them to be His children. They are God’s servants, not yours. They are responsible to Him, not to you. Let Him tell them whether they are right or wrong. And God is able to make them do as they should.” Romans 14:3-4
Man, I used to feel like it was my responsibility to monitor and correct other Christians. It was out of a right heart, most of the time. I felt like I had to give an account to the Lord for everybody. What a relief to discover that God was very capable of directing His own sheep. I’m not saying there isn’t a certain amount of responsibility toward our siblings in the Lord, but we aren’t their God. We will all give an account to the Lord for the lives we have lived. Unless someone is in true sin and is in danger, leave them alone. Some of the things we do don’t really matter in the grand scope of things.
PRAYER: Lord, I don’t want to take on the responsibility for micromanaging other people. Help me to break any spirit of control that tries to use me to bring others into bondage. Help me to remember that it’s not my place, I am not their God and judge. Also, Lord, keep me from falling under someone else’s condemnation. I don’t want to intentionally offend anyone, but I also don’t want to sit under their judgment. Love You Lord, give me balance. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
