Ezra 4:24-6:22, I Corinthians 3:5-23, Psalm 29:1-11, Proverbs 20:26-27
“Who am I, and who is Apollos, that we should be the cause of a quarrel? Why, we’re just God’s servants, each of us with certain special abilities, and with our help you believed. My work was to plant the seed in your hearts, and Apollos work was to water it, but it was God, not we, who made the garden grow in your hearts. The person who does the planting or watering isn’t very important, but God is important because He is the one who makes things grow. Apollos and I are working as a team, with the same aim, though each of us will be rewarded for his own hard work. We are only God’s coworkers. You are God’s garden, not ours; you are God’s building, not ours.” I Corinthians 3:5-9
Hey! Bet you didn’t know we’re all on the same team, right?! By the way some people behave it makes you wonder. But honestly, God has given each of us gifts and talents and opportunities to use for His glory. It’s nothing of our own doing so we have nothing to brag about. Stay humble and grateful, do your part and recognize that it is God’s responsibility to help a person transform. Don’t be discouraged if you don’t feel like what you have done for them is going anywhere either, again, just remember God is taking them on their journey.
PRAYER: Lord, help me to stay focused on You, realizing that I am only responsible for myself and the tasks that You have given me to do. I pray to not get caught up in my feelings when a person moves on from me or my church. Help me to not take it personal but to know that You are doing something different with them. Also, keep me from being jealous of another person who I feel may have more success than me. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
