“We can justify our every deed, but God looks at our motives.” Proverbs 21:2
We try so hard to explain why we do what we do and some people will be satisfied with excuses. We may even convince ourselves. But God knows the thoughts and intents of our hearts. We are laid bare before Him and deep within we know we come up short. Our best bet is to be honest because God knows anyway, and this will prevent a wall from building between us and the Lord. Ask God to give you a desire to do what is right in His eyes. He will work with you and help you to overcome areas that are not pleasing to Him. If we can do this simple act, there will be nothing to justify.
PRAYER: Lord, help me to own myself when I am off track. I don’t want to make up excuses to justify what I am doing. Change me. Thank You for Your grace and mercy. In Jesus’ name, amen.
