Job 1:1-3:26; I Corinthians 14:1-17; Psalm 37:12-29; Proverbs 21:25-26

The Bible teaches of a great man named Job who was blessed of God. He was perfect (mature) and upright, a man that feared (reverenced) God and hated evil. In Job 1:1, we see that Job was the richest man in the east and the greatest of all men in his nation. In Job 1:3, the Lord is bragging on Job, telling Satan there is none like him in all the earth. Satan told God, “Is it for nothing that he serves you. You have blessed him with everything. If you will allow me to attack him, he will curse and forsake you.” (Job 1:8-11)

This is an amazing look into spiritual warfare and why we sometimes go through what we go through. Remember, you may be going through warfare not because of what you’ve done wrong, but because of what you’ve done right. When we live for God and serve Him, we become a threat to the kingdom of darkness. This brings demonic attacks that test and try us, making us even stronger and mightier for God. That’s why God allows the devil to strike us. He knows that sometimes the only way to promotion is through trials and tribulations. As we prove faithful and mature, then comes promotion to another dimension in God. Listen to Job’s trials: lost his wealth, his health, his children, and his wife asked him, “Will you still hold your integrity to God, why don’t you just curse God and die.” If you’ll recall, those are the exact words that Satan used and here they are coming out of this woman’s mouth.

Long story short, Job fought the good fight of faith and after the test and trials God restored twice as much as he ever had. Here’s what we can take away today: 1) God is all powerful and has all authority and power in His hands. 2) I am His and no matter what I go through, He will never let me down. 3) There is coming a day of great celebration. 4) One day I’m going to be a spiritual giant. 5) We live to bring glory to God. 6) This life is temporal, but God is eternal. Focus on the eternal.

PRAYER:

God help me to see and understand that You are in control, and everything is going to be alright. I pray in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.
