“One who doesn’t give the gift he promised is like a cloud blowing over a desert without dropping any rain.” Proverbs 25:14
I can remember times sitting out on the curb waiting for my parent to pick me up for the weekend. No show. So disappointing and hurtful. I can remember the hope of making a new friend only to be betrayed. No show. So disappointing and hurtful. I can remember thinking someone was going to let me work to help me make ends meet with a little extra money. No show. So disappointing and hurtful. I could go on and on as I’m sure you have your own stories as well. The bottom line is this, when someone states or even implies something and then doesn’t come through they are providing some temporary shade from the heat but not actually delivering the rain to the thirsty soul. Let me encourage myself and you to be people of our word; to be solid so that we don’t hurt or disappoint someone.
PRAYER: Lord, help me to be consistent in my walk and in my promises. I love You and I love people and I do not want to hurt anyone. Help me to not be so casual in my conversation or with my offered assistance. Someone may truly be counting on me to come through. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
