Isaiah 25:1-28:13; Galatians 3:10-22; Psalm 61:1-8; Proverbs 23:17-18
“Don’t be jealous of sinners; instead, always fear the Lord. For then you will have a future and your hope will never fade.” (Proverbs 23:17-18)
Number one rule in life, well, maybe not number one, but it’s a high-ranking rule – don’t look at other people. Mind your own business. It’s important that we train ourselves not to judge or envy others. We have no idea what is going on in their lives, their minds or what their end will be.
We could spend all of our time wishing that we had that guy’s house, car, wife and life. I mean, he apparently does what he wants and look, he isn’t suffering one bit. Really, there isn’t enough “stuff” in the world to coax me away from God. All of that “stuff” will fade away but God will still be there. Plus, we will all die one day and give an account to the Lord for our lives.
Our minds could really get twisted if we don’t keep the right perspective. God has a plan for our lives, and it is in perfect harmony with His master design for this world. Relax, He is faithful. Don’t spend all your good time wasting away on jealousy. Stay away from that destructive emotion. Even if we are never rich, super talented or whatever, we are blessed. As Christian’s, we must remember that we are only pilgrims passing through. This world is not our home. Enjoy it but keep your eyes on the prize – living with your Daddy in heaven.
PRAYER:
Lord, I’m praying to overcome these jealous feelings I have toward some people that I know are not living for You, yet they seem to have it all. It angers me sometimes. I don’t know, maybe it’s a lack of faith on my part, but it bothers me. I’m asking You to help me keep my eyes focused on You, knowing that You are ordering my steps. No matter how things appear, I am confident that You love me and have my best interest at heart. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
