Isaiah 66:1-24, Philippians 3:4-21, Psalm 74:1-23, Proverbs 24:15-16
“O evil man, leave the upright man alone and quit trying to cheat him out of his rights. Don’t you know that this good man, though you trip him up seven times, will each time rise again? But one calamity is enough to lay you low.” Proverbs 24:15-16
I’ve heard this scripture used a lot for people who stumble or backslide when verse 16 is used alone. But when you read it context with the verse above, it makes total sense in a different light. You see God will encourage the righteous to get up and give them hope for a new day even through repeated hardship. But when a person experiences crisis apart from God they many times blame Him or others and they in general struggle to recover. This is especially true if this person has attacked or oppressed a decent person.
PRAYER: Lord, thank You for always being with me. I have confidence that as long as I am in relationship with You, I will always overcome and rise again. You are the original phoenix Jesus! I appreciate the hope and trust You have developed in my heart. I pray for folks who don’t know You. I pray Your mercy over them and I ask that You would draw them unto Yourself. In Your I pray. Amen.
