Isaiah 60:1-62:5, Philippians 1:27-2:18, Psalm 72:1-20, Proverbs 24:11-12
“O God, help the king to judge as You would, and help his son to walk in godliness. Help him to give justice to Your people, even to the poor. May the mountains and hills flourish in prosperity because of his good reign. Help him to defend the poor and needy and to crush their oppressors. May the poor and needy revere You constantly, as long as sun and moon continue in the skies! Yes, forever!” Psalm 72:1-5
I think it’s totally appropriate to pray for those who are in leadership. Can you imagine having leaders who were totally oriented toward the needs of their communities? We would develop some pretty healthy countries. Despite the fact we will never have a utopia here on earth, it shouldn’t stop us from trying to promote that within our sphere. Jesus’ message was to care for those who were less fortunate, to help those who struggled to help themselves, to be honest individuals and to put others first. If everyone were racing to the bottom of the totem pole, then greed and corruption would fall away. Ah, in a perfect world.
PRAYER: Father, I lift up all leaders in all countries. I pray the prayer of David, that they would do right by those who are under them. I pray for all nations to prosper and have good success. I pray for a great revival of Jesus spirituality to soar through the lands, and I ask You to transform people’s hearts, from the highest to the lowest, in Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
