Isaiah 30:12-33:9; Galatians 5:1-12; Psalm 63:1-11; Proverbs 23:22
“You will be delivered by returning and resting; your strength will lie in quiet confidence…Therefore the Lord is waiting to show you mercy, and is rising up to show you compassion, for the Lord is a just God. Happy are all who wait patiently for Him…He will show favor to you at the sound of your cry; when He hears, He will answer you. The Lord will give you meager bread and water during oppression, but your Teacher will not hide Himself any longer. Your eyes will see your Teacher, and whenever you turn to the right or to the left your ears will hear this command behind you: ‘This is the way. Walk in it.'” (Isaiah 30:15, 18,19b-21)
God’s children were in a bit of rebellion. They were seeking help and protection from Egypt. He was upset with them for being so hard-headed, looking for deliverance from someone other than Him. In His mercy and love He told them they would find their help whenever they came back to Him, rested and allowed Him to do the work. I love how God said their strength would lie in quiet confidence. God wants to be our hero and He is not willing to share His glory with anyone. God is always looking for a way to show Himself strong.
God knows the hardships, trials, and pinches we find ourselves in. He’s not oblivious to our plight, but it’s here, in things that are beyond our control that we find a God who is completely in control. “But I don’t know how God’s gonna’ move for me.” I understand. We must know that if we love God then He is going to allow everything to work for our good. (Romans 8:28)
I liken serving God to standing on the edge of a cliff, holding your arms out and then swan diving off with the expectation that He’s going to catch you. He is always going to push us beyond or comfort zones to see where our trust level lies. Are we dependent on Him or ourselves? He’ll show us. So we see that whether in sin and rebellion or in everyday life, God is at the ready to receive our repentance, to take control and take care of whatever is affecting His children. How great a love is this…
PRAYER:
Lord, thank You for being concerned for my welfare. I’m really going to make an effort to rely on You more and more every day. I am getting full of Your Word, I’m spending time in prayer, I just want to know who You are for myself. I pray for a deeper relationship with You and from that I believe my trust level is going to explode. Again, thank You so much for loving and taking care of me. My heart is Yours. In the name of Jesus I pray, amen.
