II Kings 18:13-19:37; Acts 21:1-17; Psalm 149:1-9; Proverbs 18:8
Have you ever found yourself under attack by someone or something? Were you scared to death? The threat may have seemed overwhelming. This is exactly where King Hezekiah found himself. He loved God and had torn down all of the devil’s altars. Now the king of Assyria came and told him to give him 300 talents of silver and 30 talents of gold as a payment to leave him alone. King Hezekiah strips the gold overlaid doors of the church and gave all that he had. The greedy king of Assyria came back and demanded more.
Never coward down, but rather fight the good fight of faith. King Hezekiah went into a fast and started praying. God, through a prophet, gave him a special word. “Be not afraid of the words which you have heard. Behold, I will send a blast upon him and he will hear a rumor and will return to his own land.”(II Kings 19:6-7) “And it came to pass that night that the angel of the Lord went out and killed 185,000 Assyrians.” (II Kings 19:35)
PRAYER:
God, I choose to trust You and believe that You have my back. I refuse to walk in fear or to believe the lies of the devil. Instead, I choose to live for You and trust You. I know everything is going to be alright, even if 185,000 people show up to attack me. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
