| Isaiah 10:1-11:16; II Corinthians 12:11-21; Psalm 56:1-13; Proverbs 23:6-8
“Woe to those enacting crooked statutes and writing oppressive laws to keep the poor from getting a fair trial and to deprive the afflicted among my people of justice, so that the widows can be their spoil and they can plunder the fatherless. What will you do on the day of punishment when devastation comes from far away? Who will you run to for help?” (Isaiah 10:1-3)
Look a there. Greedy politicians and corrupt people have been around since biblical times. Ain’t that something. How amazing that there are still groups of people in power harassing others. There will be a day of reckoning though. We will all give an account for the things we have done with our lives and how we have treated people along the way. We may not see some of the people receive their judgment on this side of death but rest assured that day will come, and God will not be bribed or misled.
“…He will not judge by what He sees with His eyes, He will not execute justice by what He hears with His ears, but He will judge the poor righteously and execute justice for the oppressed of the land.” (11:3-4)
For everyone having to live under the tyranny of these oppressors who pass laws that they are not subject to, be comforted, this life is short and the kingdom the Lord has prepared is a place of peace. And just know, unless these wicked people repent and change their ways, their punishment will be far worse than anything we could ever dream up. God is longsuffering, good and kind, but make no mistake, He is a God of righteousness and justice.
“The wolf will live with the lamb and the leopard will lie down with the goat. The calf, the young lion, and the fatling will be together, and a child will lead them. The cow and the bear will graze, their young ones will lie down together, and the lion will eat straw like the ox. An infant will play beside the cobra’s pit and a toddler will put his hand into a snake’s den. No one will harm or destroy on My entire holy mountain, for the land will be as full of the knowledge of the Lord as the sea is filled with water.” (11:6-9)
PRAYER:
Lord, my heart holds on to the promise of a better world. One of peace, where our final transformation will occur, and the sin nature will truly be gone. I hate the suffering that’s happening throughout the world. It’s horrible and it grieves my heart that human beings can treat others the way they do. Have mercy Lord. Move on our behalf. Strengthen and encourage the weak and the oppressed. Be their voice. Help us to make a difference. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. |
