Ezra 4:24-6:22; I Corinthians 3:5-23; Psalm 29:1-11; Proverbs 20:26-27

“The Lord sat enthroned at the flood; the Lord sits enthroned, King forever. The Lord gives His people strength; the Lord blesses His people with peace.” (Psalm 29:10-11)

In Acts 23, the Apostle Paul was taken into custody and was being brought before the Sanhedrin so the commander could hear the accusation against him. The Sanhedrin was the Jewish court system. It was instituted when God told Moses in Numbers 11:16, to bring seventy men that were operating as elders and officers to Him at the tent of meeting. It was there that God took a portion of the Spirit that was on Moses and anointed the others to help Moses carry the burden of the people. So the tradition continued with one high court of 71 elders and all towns having smaller courts consisting of 23 judges.

“When Paul realized that one part of them were Sadducees and the other part were Pharisees, he cried out in the Sanhedrin, ‘Brothers, I am a Pharisee, a son of Pharisees! I am being judged because of the hope of the resurrection of the dead!’ When he said this, a dispute broke out in between the Pharisees and the Sadducees, and the assembly was divided. For the Sadducees say there is no resurrection, and no angel or spirit, but the Pharisees affirm them all. The shouting grew loud, and some of the scribes of the Pharisees’ party got up and argued vehemently: ‘We find nothing evil in this man. What if a spirit or an angel has spoken to him?’ When the dispute became violent, the commander feared that Paul might be torn apart by them and ordered the troops to go down, rescue him from them, and bring him into the barracks.” (Acts 23:6-10)

God is Lord and King over all things, circumstances, everything. Like the Psalm above reads He gives us strength and peace. The Apostle Paul lived a fairly turbulent life. He seemed to always find himself in some incredible predicaments. He was extremely smart and utilized everything to his advantage. Paul saw that the Sanhedrin there was made up of Saducees and Pharisees and chose to use the rift between them to his advantage. Jesus said we would be like sheep sent out in the midst of wolves. It is imperative that we be meek as doves and wise as serpents. (Matthew 10:16) It also says that a fool utters his whole mind. (Proverbs 29:11)

As Christians we must learn that our dependency is on the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Paul was a great example as we read over and over how the Lord would give him words to speak that often got his behind out of some intense cracks. We are to avail ourselves of every useful tool within righteousness to see that we accomplish our call. As Christians we sometimes want to say everything that comes to mind and that is simply not wise. If we will be patient, the Holy Spirit will let us know when we are to speak, what we are to say and when we should say very little or nothing at all. I’m not talking about using deception. This is a righteous wisdom that enables us to maneuver a corrupt world system overrun by flawed humans. God wants us to combine the intelligence He gave us with His guidance so we can fulfill our mission. In the midst of all the hoopla, Paul was rescued and brought to safety.

“The following night, the Lord stood by him and said, ‘Have courage! For as you have testified about Me in Jerusalem, so you must also testify in Rome.'” Just like Paul, God is going to bring you through the crises of your life so you can fulfill the call. If you are a child of God, don’t worry about a thing. You can count on the fact that God will bring you from Point A to Point B and, if you are obedient to His voice, you will live to accomplish your task.

PRAYER:

Holy Spirit I ask You to lead me in all truth. Keep my mouth in all situations. I don’t want to blurt out things that will not edify and I don’t want to hold back in fear if something that You give me will help change a desperate circumstance. I absolutely cannot make it without You. Guide me Lord as I journey to make it home to You. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.

Pastor Ricky and Jeannie Sinclair

From Ricky’s book, Miracle-at-Large, Ricky became an evangelist spreading the word of God through his testimony. He was a fire. He would go in, light it up and encourage people in the places he shared his testimony. When you’re an evangelist, you breeze in and breeze out, and you don’t have to worry about hurting anyone. But that was the start of the ministry. His evangelism was birthed from the book that came out, which gave him a platform. People started following us and we gave them resources and suggested churches to get plugged into. However, we developed a following of people that would not go anywhere else but honestly, it was not in our heart to start a physical church.

With us not wanting to turn people away, we started meeting together as a prayer group and started having a little teaching within the prayer group. But then, we were bursting out of our living room. Our house could squeeze 30 to 60 people in it butt here was not much you can do in it anymore with people wall-to-wall. We had John Mayers and his wife leading worship through singing and playing a guitar. We had all the elements for church, which led to people pressing us to start a church and they wouldn’t go anywhere else. With us growing but not ready for a church, we had to look into bigger spaces and started with one conference room in a hotel. However, we eventually consumed every conference room in the hotel as we continued to grow.

As we grew, we saw a lot of gifts and opportunities. As a result, we wanted to start a physical church where everybody was included and invited. Even if they seemed like they didn’t fit into a“traditional church”, they would be accepted at our church. I sought God and God spoke to my heart and said, “I want you to start a church and I’m going to send everybody that is like you to the church. You will have a church and they’ll be other churches, too. There will be people that I send to those churches, but you will become your own individual church with the people that I’m creating and building for your church.” That’s how we became our own identity and individual church with our own personality that God established because God put this in Ricky’s heart. Everyone from various backgrounds would be welcomed as family and they would have a place for them to go to church in a family… MiraclePlace Church.

Here we are still standing today with the same message from 2001: Everyone from various backgrounds are welcomed as family and this is a place for you to actually go to church in a family… Miracle Place Church in Baker, LA. Come as you are, You Belong Here!
