| II Samuel 23:24-24:25; Acts 3:1-26; Psalm 123:1-4; Proverbs 16:21-23
“And a man who was lame from his mother’s womb was carried there and placed every day at the temple gate called Beautiful, so he could beg from those entering the temple complex. When he saw Peter and John about to enter the temple complex, he asked for help. Peter, along with John, looked at him intently and said, ‘Look at us.’ So he turned to them, expecting to get something from them. But Peter said, ‘I have neither silver nor gold, but what I have I give to you; In the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, get up and walk!’ Then, taking him by the right hand he raised him up, and at once his feet and ankles became strong.” (Acts 3:2-7)
Sometimes people have such tremendous issues that you can feel overwhelmed just listening to them. How do you offer hope to those who are suffering or have walked through so much in their lives? Peter and John were faced with a man that begged for a living because he had been born blind. Some folks would think, “Poor ol’ thing, been like that all his life. He’s out there begging for a living. What could I possibly do to help?” We have to remember that we are limited, the only true help we have to offer is through our God. The disciples probably could have thrown him a coin but that wouldn’t have given him any long term relief. Sometimes when I am asked for help that I know is beyond what I can give, I get frustrated because I want to heal, I want to solve the problem, I want to make things better. I look to myself and I think what can I do, they seem so hopeless. That’s when the Lord stops me and reminds me of all of my dire circumstances that He has seen me through and then I get it. It’s not about me and my power, it’s all about Him. Such as I have I give to you! And He is enough…
PRAYER:
Lord, I ask You to give me supernatural boldness to speak into people’s lives. Help me to remember what You have done for me and to realize that what You have done for me You will do for others. I have confidence in You and Your abilities Lord, You are awesome!! I give You all the glory and honor. In the name of Jesus I pray, amen. |
