| II Samuel 19:11-20:13; John 21:1-25; Psalm 120:1-7; Proverbs 16:16-17
“Simon Peter said unto them, ‘I go a fishing. They said unto him, ‘We also go with you.’ They went forth and entered into a ship immediately and that night caught nothing.” (John 21:3)
Peter tells his fellow disciples, “I’m out of here, I quit the ministry! I’m going fishing.” They all say they are going with him. Have you ever reached the point in life where you said, “I’m fed up. I’m out of here. I’m going back to what I used to do.” Well, that’s where the disciples are right now, even after Jesus appeared twice unto them in the previous chapter. (John 20:19-29)
Here is the revelation, they fished all night and caught nothing. Ever do your own thing and see no fruit. When morning came there was a man on the bank who hollered, “Have you caught anything.” They said they had not. He yelled back and told them to cast their net on the right side. They did and were not able to draw the net in because it was so full of fish. Peter realized it was the Lord.
When we obey Christ and His Word then our lives will be fruitful.
PRAYER:
God help me to be patient, to follow You with all my heart. Speak to me, let me know when it is time to cast my net on the right side. Help me to not be discouraged. I love You with all of my heart and am waiting for Your Word. In your mighty name I pray, amen. |
