“Happy are those who keep His decrees and seek Him with all their heart.” (Psalm 119:2)
“How can a young man keep his way pure? By keeping your Word. I have sought You with all my heart; don’t let me wander from Your commands. I have treasured Your Word in my heart so that I may not sin against You.” (119:9-11)
The Word of God has literally changed my life. Many years ago when I received Christ the Word began making sense. Suddenly it was more than ink on the page and I found myself devouring it. I simply couldn’t get enough.
I didn’t have much in the way of morals or principles that governed my life so as I read the Bible I saw all of my shortcomings but realized how great of a love and what tremendous patience God has toward us. Since I was lacking in so many areas such as how to treat people, how to recognize and avoid sin, etc., the Bible was my teacher. God spoke to my heart and opened my eyes. Not only that, He gave me the power of the Holy Spirit so that I could live out what I was reading. He graciously changed the desires of my heart and turned my life around.
No matter where you are, what you’ve done or how you were raised, the Word of God still stands true for you. God is no respecter of persons and what He has done for me He will certainly do for you as well. So how does a person keep their way and remain happy in life? By seeking the Lord, filling your heart with His Word and actually living it. God has all of the answers to life’s every twist.
A little story to bring the principle on home: There was a man that fought dogs and he always won. One day he told a lady how he knew which dog would win. The man shared that whichever dog was fed that week was the one that won. Makes perfect sense doesn’t it. Whether you feed your flesh or spirit will determine your success, so be sure to feed the right dog.
PRAYER:
Lord, I ask You to open the eyes of my understanding. Help me to know You and to understand Your Word. I yield to You and pray for a strong desire to feed my spirit on Your Word so I can keep my path straight. Thank you. In the name of Jesus I pray. Amen. |
