| I Samuel 26:1-28:25; John 11:1-54; Psalm 117:1-2; Proverbs 15:22-23
“‘Remove the stone,’ Jesus said. Martha, the dead man’s sister, told Him, ‘Lord, he already stinks. It’s been four days.’ Jesus said to her, ‘Didn’t I tell you that if you believed you would see the glory of God?’ …After He said this, He shouted with a loud voice, ‘Lazarus, come out!’ The dead man came out bound hand and foot with linen strips and with his face wrapped in a cloth, Jesus said to them, ‘Loose him and let him go.'” (John 11:39-40, 43-44)
This was no magician’s trick. Lazarus was obviously not only dead but had been dead long enough to start smelling. Yuck! But Jesus is not deterred, He demands they roll the stone away. Like a Hollywood movie, Jesus shouts to Lazarus and commands his spirit back into his body. As Lazarus obeys, he breathes the breath of life and healing spreads throughout his body. He comes out of the tomb bound but is quickly undressed from his death shroud. It’s a new day in this house; a new level of faith, a new level of reality, a new start.
Whether you are Martha or Lazarus, when that situation in your life is so far gone, it is so dead that it has begun to stink, when it is so obvious that it is beyond revitalization that is where Jesus does His best work. Never be afraid of impossibilities because it is there that God shows His abilities. And He is a show-off! Just remember, you are one with the Resurrection and the Life!! Shout somebody!!!
PRAYER:
Father, I lay my lifeless circumstance before You and ask humbly that You would move on my behalf. Remove all fear and doubt from me. They are sent from the enemy of my soul to keep me bound. I refuse to walk in fear. No matter what Your answer is I know that it will be what is right so my heart is content. I’m standing and believing for the best, now show yourself strong! In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen. |
