| I Samuel 10:1-11:15; John 6:43-71; Psalm 107:1-43; Proverbs 15:1-3
“Finally, Saul son of Kish was selected. But when they searched for him, they could not find him. They again inquired of the Lord, ‘Has the man come here yet.’ The Lord replied, ‘There he is, HIDDEN among the supplies.’ They ran and got him from there. When he stood among the people, he stood a head taller than anyone else. Samuel said to all the people, ‘Do you see the one the Lord has chosen? There is no one like him among the entire population.’ And all the people shouted, ‘Long live the king!'” (I Samuel 10:21b-24)
“Saul also went to his home in Gibeah, and brave men whose hearts God had touched went with him. But some wicked men said, ‘How can this guy save us?’ They despised him and did not bring him a gift, but Saul said nothing.” (10:26-27)
How is it the Lord always seems to find what appears to be the least qualified and least likely individuals to fill important positions? In my opinion, and also in the Word, God looks at the heart and uses people that will be yielded to Him. He saw the potential in Saul even though Saul and several others didn’t.
Speaking of the “several others,” there will always be an element of people who don’t believe in you and do not believe in what you are trying to accomplish. They will not support you so don’t waste your time trying to solicit their friendship. We can’t allow ourselves to be discouraged by them. Just keep moving forward and your life will speak for itself. It is God who sets the plan in motion, He is the one that calls and equips us, and He is the one who gives us a core group of people to see us through the different seasons of our lives. Appreciate and work with the folks God has given you.
The take home today is this: God sees our potential, not where we are right this moment. Trust that He is able to develop that potential to accomplish the task. Know there will be nay-sayers. Prepare for opposition by thickening your skin, don’t take their comments personally. Apparently, they don’t know how big your God is. Surely if He can use a donkey and a rooster, He can use you. Yeehaw! And lastly, the Lord is going to provide the people you need to help you along the way. You can do whatever you put your hand to. You are a mighty warrior for the Lord.
PRAYER:
Father, I trust You and believe with all my heart that You can use me to do great things. Help me to remember that it is because of YOU and Your great power and has virtually nothing to do with me except for my desire to be used by You. Help me to excel on my job so that I can provide liberally for Your kingdom. Bless me in ministry so that I can tap into Your power in order to see souls saved and set free. Keep me humble and usable for Your glory and teach me to hear Your voice. I am not afraid because You are with me. I will accomplish the purpose for which I was created. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen. |
