Miracle Moment

November 12, 2024
Judges 13:1-14:20; John 1:29-51; Psalm 103:1-22; Proverbs 14:17-19

“The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, ‘Here is the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world! This is the one I told you about: “After me comes a man who has surpassed me, because He existed before me.” I didn’t know Him, but I came baptizing with water so He might be revealed to Israel.'”

“And John testified, ‘I watched the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and He rested on Him. I didn’t know Him, but He who sent me to baptize with water told me, “The One you see the Spirit descending and resting on – He is the One who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.” I have seen and testified that He is the Son of God!'” (John 1:29-34)

That statement still sends shock waves throughout the world. How dare you, how narrow-minded, how this, how that. Hey, I didn’t write the book, I’m just a messenger. Don’t hate, take it up with God. I personally thank God for His great plan that was laid out from before the foundation of the world. You see, a righteous, pure, holy God requires a righteous, pure, holy people, something you and I could never be able to attain apart from God’s grace. His mercy showed up in the form of Jesus Christ, for the easiest term, His Son, His Word, a part of Himself invested in a human body.

Throughout the Old Testament we read constantly about the animal sacrifices that were made to atone for people’s sin. The blood of animals could never fully take away sin, or appease God’s requirement of holiness, that’s why they had to be frequently repeated. It was only when He came and walked as one of us, felt our pain, our disappointment, and our temptations and then presented Himself as the ultimate sacrifice that would cleanse our minds, bodies, and spirits from the depravity and heartbreak of sin that we could all find resolution, peace and relationship with our Creator.

For some it’s hard to grasp. God even says in His Word that this is foolishness to the natural mind. In order to comprehend we must have it revealed to us by the Holy Spirit. He comes in and opens our eyes to see what we’ve been missing. The Word is no longer ink on the page, it’s alive. We read between the lines and things start coming together. It’s like looking at one of those “magic eye” 3d art works in the comic section of the Sunday paper. You know, you hold it close to your eyes, then push it back a little at a time, then draw it close, then push it back until all of a sudden, BAM, there it is. These messy little objects jump out as a big single picture. Crazy huh, but revelation can very much be the same way. You’re looking, and skimming, and reading and then one day the Holy Spirit lifts the veil and you get 3d word, in your face, making all kind of sense. I love God, He’s so incredibly cool.

I’m just a simple person and I might not know much, but I do know this, once I was lost, but now I am found, once I was blind, but now I see. Since I have received what Jesus did through His life and the sacrifice He made in His death, as well as, the power of His resurrection, I am changed, not perfect, but getting better all the time. I can’t tell you what to believe, but I do encourage you to seek out the Lamb of God. If you do not accept His sacrifice for your sin, then one day you will have to pay for them yourself, and like I said earlier, none of us are holy enough to pull it off. Receive what Jesus did for you, make it right with your Father and be made whole. The whole complex thing is just as simple as that. He’ll lead you the rest of the way.

PRAYER:

God, open the eyes of my understanding and help me to see You and to understand Your Word. Make salvation real to me. You be real to me. I need a change in my heart and life. I receive the sacrifice Jesus made for me in that I can now have my sins forgiven and walk in a new life and relationship with my God. I surrender now, with great expectations. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
