“Father if you are willing, remove this cup from me, Nevertheless not my will, but yours be done.” (Luke 22:42)
Jesus is on the Mount of Olives where He and His disciples often went to pray. He is praying about His life and God’s purpose and plan. God is saying to Jesus, “You will be betrayed by one of Your own. You will die a certain death and be beaten a certain way because I’m going to use Your life experiences, death and resurrection to save and heal the world. Everyone who looks to and puts faith in You will receive everything You are doing for them. They will be encouraged in their own trials. They will be empowered by how You have embraced Your purpose. Your sacrifice will open doors for them they could have never opened on their own.”
As you read this, I am telling you that the miracle power of God will transfer to you and every soul who trusts Jesus Christ. When we are betrayed, we simply trust Christ and His peace and power comes in. When we are hurting, we have faith in Jesus and healing is ours. When we miss the mark and are lost in sin, we receive His sacrifice, and we are forgiven. Some would say, “I can’t believe God’s will is for me to go through what I am going through.” Take heart, all things have purpose, look for God in your circumstance.
Prayer:
Father, I’m afraid, but I am choosing to trust You even as Jesus trusted You. I know You have a plan, I know You have a purpose, and like Jesus, I am saying today – not my will but Yours be done. In Jesus name I pray Amen. |
