| Deuteronomy 26:1 – 27:26; Luke 10:38 – 11:13; Psalms 76:1-12; Proverbs 12:15-17
The disciples asked Jesus to teach them how to pray (Luke 11:1). We all need to ask the Lord how He wants us to pray. Jesus says, “When you pray, start out by acknowledging your relationship with God – Our Father. Jesus is teaching that prayer is a relationship not a ritual. Secondly, He teaches – Hallowed be your name. Jesus is teaching to reverence God and acknowledge His greatness. When you pray, remember who you are standing before. Third, He teaches us that it is all about His Kingdom, not ours – Your kingdom come. Fourth, He teaches that it is about His will and not ours -Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Fifth, He teaches us to trust God and to ask Him to provide our daily needs – Give us this day our daily bread. Sixth, He teaches us to keep our heart right by always forgiving others as we ask God to forgive us. Seventh, He teaches us to pray for God to cover, protect and even deliver us in advance, cancelling all assignments of the enemy – And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.
Jesus teaches us how to pray. If we will take these principles and apply them in prayer, God’s glory and power will manifest in our life. To God be all the glory, honor and praise. Today Lord, we glorify You and magnify You and exalt You. We declare that You are God and there is none beside You. We worship and honor You.
Prayer:
Lord thank You that You have given us an example to live by and how to pray. Help me to be all You have called me to be. I pray Your will be done in my life in Christ Jesus name I pray, Amen. |
