Miracle Moment

“But as for me, I came so close to the edge of the cliff! My feet were slipping and I was almost gone. For I was envious of the prosperity of the proud and wicked. Yes, all through life their road is smooth! They grow sleek and fat. They aren’t always in trouble and plagued with problems like everyone else, so their pride sparkles like a jeweled necklace, and their clothing is woven of cruelty!” Psalm 73:2-6

This guy was getting turned around because he was focusing on how easy so many of the rich and powerful have it. The people he’s speaking of are so full of pride and treat others like peasants. They don’t do right yet they seem to always get away with it. Then he is in church one day and has an epiphany of their end. They may get away with things here, but they will stand before the righteous King one day and receive their just sentence. Their pride, their money and their connections will do no good before Him.

Because of his temporary jealousy the psalmist says, “I feel so stupid and ignorant, yet You still love me.” Folks, treasure your relationship with God above all things. Personal wealth and prestige can never fill that spot in your soul. Take your eyes off those you feel have everything and put them back onto the author and finisher of your faith, Jesus Christ. He is for you. This life is so short compared to eternity and when you look at these people’s destination it should make you cry, not be envious. What person with understanding would choose to gain this world and lose their soul? Embrace your life; God entrusted you with it.

PRAYER: Father, help me! I don’t want to get caught up looking at certain celebrities and unrighteous people, believing they have it all. Even though we don’t see, many are miserable and seeking. I pray to be that happy, satisfied person who can be a light to them. I love and appreciate You and I thank You for placing me right where I am. Help me to bring glory and honor to You through my life. In Jesus’ name, amen.
