“The Lord will scatter you among the peoples, and you will be reduced to a few survivors among the nations where the Lord your God will drive you. There you will worship man-made gods of wood and stone, which cannot see, hear, eat or smell. But from there, you will search for the Lord your God, and you will find Him when you seek Him with all your heart and all your soul. When you are in distress and all these things have happened to you, you will return to the Lord your God in later days and obey Him. He will not leave you, destroy you, or forget the covenant with your fathers that He swore to them by oath, because the Lord your God is a compassionate God.” (Deuteronomy 4:27:31)
Moses told the people they were going to a great land and if they turned from the Lord, He would scatter them and they in turn would seek out gods from inanimate objects. These “gods” would be unable to heal or fill the void left by the absence of His presence. But even then, God’s graciousness would reach out to them at the moment they turned from their wickedness to seek Him. God says we might run and hide for a moment, but as we mature, we will seek Him.
Some things never change. As it was with the Israelites, God allows us to have our fill of the world. When we are at the bottom and can’t go any lower, He throws the life rope, giving us the opportunity to be rescued because that’s just the kind of God He is. Full of love and compassion, His mercies are new every morning. (Lamentations 3:22-23)
Just in case you think you have strayed too far, then you need to think again. I am here to tell you that as long as there is breath in your nostrils there is hope for you. Confess your sins to God, repent of your ways and profess Jesus Christ as your Lord. Something supernatural will begin to take place in your spirit and in your life. We call it becoming born again. Now stay in the Word, work the Word and get to know Jesus. It’s a great day to be saved!
