Miracle Moment

September 28, 2024
Numbers 26:1-55; Luke 2:36-52; Psalm 60:1-12; Proverbs 11:15

“The Lord spoke to Moses, ‘The land is to be divided among them as an inheritance based on the number of names. Increase the inheritance for a large tribe and decrease it for a small one.” (Numbers 26:52-54a)

The Lord doesn’t operate on a system of entitlement. In the above scripture the tribes were given land in proportion to their numbers. Some may say, “Well that’s unfair of God. Why should they get less merely because they are a smaller tribe?” God is practical and it doesn’t make sense to give one person something just because another one has it. He gives according to need, effort and calling.

In Matthew 25:14-30, Jesus shares the parable of the talents. To the people who exerted effort and increased their talent, the Lord commended, and to the one who did absolutely nothing, what he did have was taken away and given to the one who was actually doing something. “Well, that’s not very nice of God.” Again, God is very practical. If we aren’t using a gift, finances or something else the Lord has blessed us with in order to further His kingdom, then He may just take it away and give it to someone who is. Would you continue to give to someone that shows no effort or appreciation?

Again, in II Thessalonians 3:10, the Apostle Paul told them anybody that doesn’t work, doesn’t get to eat. God is not unmerciful; He knows the thoughts and intents of our hearts. He knows a person’s limitations and abilities. He is aware of our individual situations and would never expect something from us that we are unable to deliver. However, God doesn’t reward laziness or people who think He owes them something. That might fly with your grandma or better half, but you better approach the Lord with an attitude of gratitude.

If you are struggling, I want you to recognize that nobody owes us anything; just get that out of your head. If it is to be, it is up to me. God has given us all some type of gift or talent and we need to be about our Father’s business. If we will do this, then God can trust us with more. Be faithful and content and God’s favor and blessing will overtake you.

PRAYER:

Lord, help me to keep the right perspective. I do not ever want to feel like a victim. I recognize that entitlement is a trick of the enemy to keep me self-centered and unable to move forward. I surrender myself to You. I trust You. You owe me nothing while I owe You everything. I pray You will remove all fear and teach me how to use the gifts You have given me for Your glory. In the name of Jesus I pray. Amen.
