| Numbers 22:21-23:30; Luke 1:57-80; Psalm 58:1-11; Proverbs 11:12-13
“God is not a man who lies, or a son of man who changes His mind. Does He speak and not act, or promise and not fulfill? I have indeed received a command to bless, I cannot change it. He considers no disaster for Jacob; He sees no trouble for Israel. The Lord their God is with them and there is rejoicing over the King among them. God brought them out of Egypt; He is like the horns of a wild ox for them. There is no magic curse against Jacob and no divination against Israel. It will now be said about Jacob and Israel, ‘What great things God has done!'” (Numbers 23:19-23)
“Then Balak told Balaam, ‘Don’t curse them and don’t bless them!” (23:25)
The Israelites have been taking out kings and now they are camped outside of Moab. Balak, the king of Moab, was afraid of the Israelites so he summons Balaam to come curse them. At first Balaam refuses then he decides to go. He tells Balak that he is going to seek God to get a word. God tells Balaam that he is not to curse the Israelites because they are His people. Balak gets him to try cursing the Israelites from different areas (like that’s going to make a difference, duh) but each time the Lord denies Balaam’s request to curse them. All Balaam could do was speak a blessing over the Israelites. Finally Balak tells him to just shut up, “Don’t curse them or bless them!!!” Can you say – frustrated.
As seen above, if God is for you, truly, who can be against you. There is no spell or supernatural power that can take you out. Your steps are ordered of the Lord and as long as you are doing right He has the power and right to protect you. God is not a flippant man, He is strong and steady and will do what He says He will do. He will honor His Word and watch over it to perform it. We’re in good hands.
PRAYER:
Lord, You are better than Allstate Insurance. Thank You for Your faithfulness. I have complete confidence in You. Greater is He, that’s You Lord, than he that is in the world, that’s the enemy trying to curse me. I praise You and am grateful I am under the protection of the greater One. In the name of Jesus I pray, amen. |
