“Now Moses took a tent and set it up outside the camp, far away from the camp; he called it the tent of meeting. Anyone who wanted to consult the Lord would go to the tent of meeting that was outside the camp. Whenever Moses went out to the tent, all the people would stand up, each one at the door of his tent, and they would watch Moses until he entered the tent. When Moses entered the tent, the pillar of cloud would come down and remain at the entrance to the tent and the Lord would speak with Moses.
As the people saw the pillar of cloud remaining at the entrance to the tent, they would stand up, then bow in worship, each one at the door of his tent. The Lord spoke with Moses face to face, just as a man speaks with his friend. Then Moses would return to the camp, but his assistant, the young man Joshua son of Nun, would not leave the inside of the tent.” (Exodus 33:7-11)
Opportunity was made for everyone to meet with the Lord. We are told that Moses and Joshua took advantage of the chance to do that by going out to the tent of meeting. God’s very presence would come down and linger. While Moses and Joshua visited with the Lord and got to know Him personally, the others came out and stood in their doorways and worshiped from a distance.
Don’t stay in your doorway wishing that you had a close walk with God. He wants to know you, the tent of meeting is open to any who want to experience Him. I don’t know about you, but I want to be a friend of God and to hear Him speak plainly. I don’t want to sit back at a distance while others are up close and personal with my God. Shoot, I don’t care, I’m going to check out that tent of meeting.
PRAYER:
Lord, I pray to get to know You more and more. I am willing to leave my comfort zone in order to meet with You. I ask You to speak to me like You did with Moses, face to face, in plain speech. In the name of Jesus I pray, amen. |
